Description
The ESPC2-12 Wi-Fi and BLE coexistence module is a highly integrated, low-power, single-chip IEEE 802.11 b/g/n wireless local area network (WLAN) controller. It integrates a RISC-V CPU, WLAN MAC, a 1T1R-capable WLAN baseband, RF circuitry, and Bluetooth functionality into a single chip. It also provides numerous configurable GPIOs that can be assigned to digital peripherals for various application and control purposes.
The ESPC2-12 module uses the ESP8684 as its Wi-Fi and BLE coexistence SoC.
The ESPC2-12 module incorporates internal memory to provide full Wi-Fi protocol functionality. Its embedded memory configuration also simplifies application development.
The ESPC2-12 module supports the IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/e/i standards and a complete TCP/IP protocol stack. It can be used to add Wi-Fi connectivity to existing devices or operate as a standalone network controller. The ESPC2-12 Wi-Fi module provides a flexible and cost-effective solution for a wide range of applications.

Firmware Download Procedure
Pull GPIO9 low by connecting it to ground to enter firmware download mode. After programming is complete, disconnect GPIO9 from ground; otherwise, the module will not operate normally.
Important Notes
- The ESP8684 may draw an instantaneous RF current of up to 400–500 mA. Therefore, the power supply must provide at least 500 mA. LDO regulators such as the XC6206 and 7533 must not be used.
- To meet the 500 mA power requirement, the power and ground traces should be at least 30 mil wide. If vias are required on the power traces, using two or three vias is recommended to reduce the impact of PCB manufacturing variations.
- For optimal RF performance, follow the module placement guidelines provided in the datasheet. If product certification is required, avoid routing parallel traces near the PCB antenna. The firmware download pads should be positioned away from the antenna.
- Completely erase the module’s flash memory before downloading the firmware. Otherwise, some modules may fail to boot.
